ABOUT THE GAME



Terrorist Takedown: Payback is the sequel to Terrorist Takedown, and itis often labeled as a standalone expansion pack. It features 10missions with the same gameplay of its predecessor: a first person railshooter with some third person helicopter levels. In the first personlevels the player has to take down enemies with machine guns andcannons mounted on helicopters or HMMVVs. Sometimes the player controlsa stationary gun. When controlling a machine gun, a "heat" meter isshown and if the gun overheats, the player has to wait for it to cooldown until it can shoot again. The vehicles the player is in have adamage meter at the screen's bottom left. In some other levels, theplayer controls a helicopter from a third person perspective withunlimited ammo. The helicopter is controlled with both the mouse (fordirection) and the keyboard (for height). The game features someimprovements over its predecessor, like a high score system anddifferent difficulty levels.

For almost a year now, the gaming world has eagerly anticipated the arrival of the next-generation wave of first-person shooters. These new games would finally begin to take advantage of the powerful graphical features that hardware companies have been incorporating into their video cards to deliver unprecedented visuals. But while we're still waiting to see the fruits of the labors of storied developers like id Software and Valve, Crytek, a relatively obscure German developer, has managed to beat everyone to the punch with Far Cry. In fact, Crytek almost delivers a knockout blow. Far Cry isn't just a stunning technical accomplishment. It's quite possibly the best single-player first-person shooter experience for the PC since Half-Life.
